Required Materials (Lists of materials to be submitted for project reviews)
The links below provide lists of materials that must be submitted to enable the Commission to provide an assessment as to whether historic properties, as defined by the National Historic Preservation Act, exist in a project's area of potential effect (APE). In many cases, submission of all of the materials on the appropriate list will result in completion of the review process in less than 30 days. However, if historic properties are identified or, in the case of archaeological sites, determined likely to exist in the APE, the Commission may request additional project information and/or archaeological or architectural surveys in order to assess the ultimate effects of the project upon such properties.
All review materials must be submitted in hard copy to the following address: Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr., Director, Maine Historic Preservation Commission, 55 Capitol Street, 65 State House Station, Augusta, ME, 04333-0065. Email and fax submittals will not be accepted. The Commission will respond in writing to all requests within thirty (30) days of receipt of appropriate materials.
