The Friends of the Maine State Museum

This is your museum. Your support as a Friend of the Maine State Museum helps us to carry out educational programs for Maine School children and adults. You are enabling the Museum to reach out to communities throughout Maine with exhibits, publications, and special programs.

Most of all, your support helps the Museum preserve Maine's exciting past and to make it relevant for the future.

Endowment Support

The Friends has initiated a major endowment fund, the Maine State Museum Heritage Fund, which currently stands at almost $1.5 million. The available interest generated by this investment is used to acquire and conserve objects and artifacts representing important elements of Maine’s heritage.

Curator's Circle Members will receive and invitation to a special event each year hosted by one or more of the museum curators
Museum Directors Circle Members will receive an invitation to an even t hosted by the Museum Director

The Maine State Museum is open Tuesday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM
Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM
Sunday and Monday - Closed

Closed all state holidays and state government closure days. In 2009, state government closure days are July 6, August 7, September 4, October 9, and December 24.
