Contract Award Kicks Off Strategic Information Technology Planning Initiative

By Harry Lanphear, CIO

On July 3, 2001, Gartner Consulting Group was announced as the successful bidder in response to the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Statewide Information Technology (IT) Strategic Planning Initiative. Gartner was successful in the competitive bid process with a presentation of an approach and methodology that will complete a comprehensive strategic IT plan for the State of Maine within 14 weeks. Gartner’s foundation of experience, knowledge, objectivity and research capabilities will play a significant role in addressing all the key elements of the strategic IT plan.

Key Elements:

The Gartner team, based out of Lowell, MA, will meet with the CIO in July to establish a detailed project plan, focused on providing a comprehensive and integrated Strategic IT Plan for the Executive Branch of Maine State Government. The plan will outline an appropriate IT infrastructure architecture to ensure interoperability and integration between existing systems and emerging trends, while linking to the State’s business strategies. The Office of the CIO anticipates high-level support from the senior leadership of all state agencies, capturing both the business and IT perspectives, to ensure a successful project. Kick-off meetings will be held in July or early August.
