AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) A national survey is giving Maine high marks for providing social services through the Internet.
The Center for Digital Government ranked Maine 3rd in the nation in its survey of state Web sites. Out of a possible 100 points, Maine scored a 95.83. It fell behind Kansas and Washington, which both scored 100 points. The survey used several factors to rank states, including the number of social service benefit forms available online and the ability to contact caseworkers electronically.
Governor Angus King said offering services online makes government more accessible to taxpayers.
