Chief Information Officer Wanted
Chief Information Officer - salary range $60,008.00 to $88,067.20/yr.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is an appointed, executive level position, which
will provide central leadership and vision in the use of information technology for the
Executive Branch of Maine State Government. The CIO will be the lead advocate for Maine's
information and telecommunications technology directions, polices, and standards; and act
as the principal IT liaison and technical advisor to the Office of the Governor and State
Information Services Policy Board. The CIO will be the prime executive liaison to the
Judicial and Legislative Branches of government. The CIO will guide and manage the
development strategic technology plans and establish IT standards and architecture
throughout State Government. In accomplishing these objectives, the CIO will strive to
identify ways in which the use of IT can reduce the cost of State Government and improve
services to its customers.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Recognition as an "IT visionary" demonstrated by history of partnering with
the executives and technical staff from diverse business groups in developing strategic
plans at the enterprise level;
- A record of successfully leading enterprise-level IT project teams in developing and
deploying innovative technical solutions to business needs;
- A broad technology background which demonstrates a knowledge of the capabilities of
emerging technology and legacy systems;
- Outstanding communication skills demonstrated by a record of building positive working
relationships with customers, business partners, and executive managers.
