Which Red Cross Headquarters is Closest to my House?

A new Internet based Municipal Resources system has recently been developed by the
Office of Geographic Information Systems (OGIS) and Northern Geomantics Inc. consultants
with funds appropriated by Congress to promote Y2K readiness. This system was available to
Emergency Operations Center staff and their county based colleagues during the rollover
weekend, to assist them in quickly locating local resources (armories, Red Cross, fire and
police stations, hospitals, schools, county emergency management agencies, etc.) by town.
This system includes all the towns from Abbot to York plus townships and plantations.
It also has the potential to "front end" other state data which can be linked to
maps and searched by citizens via the Internet. Users can also print maps from this site.
We are excited by the Municipal Resources systems potential to expand service to all
Maine people in the future, and efforts are underway by the OGIS to add additional data.
If you have a few moments, we invite you to take a look at http://musashi.ogis.state.me.us. Click
"open mapping", (it will open two windows),and send comments to Year 2000 Task
Force Staff, Mary Cloutier (mary.cloutier@state.me.us).
We see this system as a "work in progress", and Mary is actively soliciting
improvement suggestions. |
