CorrectionAn article in the April, 2011 edition of the Maine Tax Alert included an incorrect date regarding the automatic federal extension of estate tax returns for 2010 decedents. The automatic extension applies to estates of decedents dying after December 31, 2009 and before December 17, 2010. The April article misstated the second date as September 17, 2010. All other dates are correct as reported. Following is a reprint of the article with the correct dates. Extended Due Date for 2010 Estate Tax ReturnsFederal Treatment Personal representatives also are allowed an automatic extension of time to file estate tax returns for decedents who died after December 31, 2009 and before December 17, 2010.
