Genealogical Research in the Maine State Archives

The Maine State Archives has many record groups containing information which can be of use to those pursuing family history. These records, many of them on microfilm, can be viewed by the public in our Search Room.

It is suggested that the researcher may wish to begin by consulting records in the Maine State Library, which is also in the Cultural Building. Here can be found many published town and family histories, microfilmed newspapers, and much more material helpful to the genealogist.
