2013 Maine National History Day Program

The Maine State Archives will be administering the 2013 Maine National History Day Program. This year’s competition will be held at the University of Maine at Augusta on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.

What is Maine National History Day?

Maine NHD is an annual educational competition for all Maine students in grades 6 through 12. Each year students prepare papers, exhibits, documentaries, performances or web sites that explore a theme chosen by the National organization. This year’s theme is: “Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events.” The top two winners in each category chosen at the State competition are eligible to compete at Nationals in June.

NATIONAL HISTORY DAY......
TEACHES critical thinking, writing, and research skills and boosts performance across all subjects.
INSPIRES students to do more than they ever thought they could.
PREPARES students for college, career and citizenship.

Many students become intrigued with history for a lifetime! Your support of Maine National History Day invests in the historians of tomorrow who may one day be operating their local historical society!

Maine NHD would not exist without the generous support of the greater historical community in Maine. We greatly appreciate the continued support of those organizations who contribute annually to this worthwhile program. For those who have not donated before, we hope you will consider becoming a part of the History Day team.
