Maine's "chickadee" license plate

Beginning July 1, 1999, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles will begin issuing the new chickadee license plate to replace the lobster license plate.  Other plate designs (loon, university, veteran's, etc.) will not be affected.
All lobster plates should be replaced with the new chickadee license plates by December 31, 2000.

In July of 1998, this Bureau will have applications available for those individuals who wish to reserve the number that they currently have on their lobster license plate.  There will be a $15.00 fee for each license plate number reserved.  You are encouraged to reserve your plate before January of 1999, however, reservations will be accepted when renewing your registration.

For a copy of the reserve plate application, please  click here and follow the instructions on the form.
