Veteran Plates Issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles

Purple Heart

A Veteran who is a recipient of the Purple Heart medal can obtain up
to two sets of Purple Heart Plates.

Purple Heart Motorcycle

A qualified Veteran may obtain the Purple Heart motorcycle plate upon proof of receipt of the award.

Purple Heart Motorcycle Plate

Purple Heart Souvenir

A qualified Veteran may obtain the Purple Heart souvenir plate. This plate is available as a standard passenger plate or a motorcycle plate.

There is no fee to obtain this souvenir plate

Purple Heart Souvenir Plate

Disabled Veteran

A. Must be 100% service connected disabled (permanent and total) in receipt of 100% benefits.

Registration fee exempt on a vehicle with a registered weight not to exceed 10,000 r.v.w.

B. Any Veteran who has the loss
of both lower extremities or has
the loss of use of both lower extremities.

Exempt from all motor vehicle related fees including excise and sales tax on a vehicle with a registered weight not to exceed 10,000 r.v.w.

Disabled Veteran Parking Plate

A. Must be 100% service connected disabled (permanent and total) in receipt of 100% benefits.

Amputee/Loss of Use of Limb(s)-Blind Veterans

Any amputee, loss of use of limb(s), or blind Veteran registering their own vehicle are exempt from payment of excise tax, sales tax, title and registration fees on one vehicle.

*If double amputee of lower extremities or loss of use of lower extremities, a Disabled Veteran plate or Disabled Veteran Parking plate is issued.

Exempt from all motor vehicle related fees including excise and sales tax on a vehicle with a registered weight not to exceed 10,000 r.v.w..

Passenger Plate

*Passenger plates are normally issued; however, this Veteran can display plate of choice)

Medal of Honor

A Veteran who is in receipt of the Medal of Honor.

Registration fee exempt pn a vehicle with a registered weight not to exceed 10,000 r.v.w.

Medal of Honor Plate

Former Prisoner of War

A Veteran who was a prisoner of war at any time during tenure of service. Also, any civilian citizen of the United States who was interned as a prisoner of war can obtain POW plates.

Registration fee exempt on a vehicle with a registered weight not to exceed 10,000 r.v.w.

Prisoner of War Plate

Pearl Harbor Survivor

Issued to any Veteran who served in the United States Armed Forces and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack on December 7, 1941.

Registration fee exempt on a vehicle with a registered weight not to exceed 10,000 r.v.w.

Special Veteran Plate

Any Veteran who has been honorable discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces may obtain up to 3 sets of Special Veteran Plates.

 

 

 

34 Commemorative Veteran decals are currently available for display with the veteran plate.

$37 - 10,000 r.v.w

Special Veteran Plate

Special Veteran Plate with Korea Decal

Disability Special Veteran Plate

Any Veteran who has been honorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces qualifies for the plates. The Veteran must show proof of an honorable discharge by producing a DD-214 or a letter from the Veterans Administration or appropriate branch of the Armed Forces.

AND

Disable Veterans may apply for the Disability Special Veteran Plate. An Application for Disability Plates/Placards must be on file with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or submitted at time of issuance.

There is no specialty plate fee charged to obtain the plate.

Regular registration fees are charged
$35 - 6,000 r.v.w
$37 - 10,000 r.v.w

NOTE: This plate does not replace the current "Disabled Veteran" plate which bears a flag and is available to those veterans who qualify based on a service connected disability.

 

 

 

Disability Special Veteran Plate


34 Veteran Commemorative Decals are available for issuance with this plate.

Special Veteran Motorcycle

Any Veteran who has been honorable discharged from the United States Armed Forces qualifies for the plates. The Veteran must show proof of an honorable discharge by producing a DD-214 or a letter from the Veterans Administration or appropriate branch of the Armed Forces. 3 sets of veteran motorcycle plates may be issued to the registrant.

There is no additional fees when obtaining the plate.

Regular registration fees are charged: $21.00

Special Veteran Motorcycle plate

Plate is the same design as that of the Disabled Veteran motorcycle plate; the Special Veteran motorcycle plate has an alpha character at the end of the sequence.

Gold Star Family Recogntion Plate

Any person who is eligible for a Gold Star lapel button, or a grandparent of a member of the United States Armed Forces, if that member dies after March 28, 1973 as a result of an international terrorist attack recognized by the Department of Defense, or as a result of military operations while serving outside the United States.

Regular registration fees are charged: $35.00
