Description of the Referendum Election
March 10, 2015 – Special Election – State Representative District 93
A vacancy has been created in the Maine State House in District 93 by the January 20, 2015, resignation of Elizabeth E. Dickerson of Rockland.
On January 23, 2015, Governor LePage signed a proclamation declaring the vacancy and setting March 10, 2015, as the date of the election.
Nomination of party candidates is done by party caucus. The party nominees’ names must be submitted to the Secretary of State by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015.
Nonparty candidates must circulate petitions to obtain the signatures of 50 registered voters who live in the district. The petitions must be certified by the municipalities where the signers are registered to vote and submitted to the Secretary of State by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015. The petitions and instructions are available from the Elections Division of the Secretary of State.
Write-in candidates must file a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy with the Secretary of State by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Declaration forms and instructions are available from the Elections Division of the Secretary of State.
