Bureau of Motor Vehicles Revises Office Hours and
Provides Online Service to Better Serve the Public
AUGUSTA, MAINE – In order to better serve the public, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) now makes many of its services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online at www.maine.gov/sos/bmv . Additionally, BMV offices will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. beginning Monday, August 8th, to help ensure that customers are served by 5:00.
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles currently offers more online services than any other state agency. Many people are now eligible to renew their driver's license or vehicle registration through the Bureau's online service. Replacements for lost or destroyed licenses and state ID cards can also be obtained online.
Additional BMV information and services can be accessed anytime including driving records, a vanity plate availability check, oversize/overweight load permits, and vehicle title searches.
