Secretary of State Dunlap Announces
National Recognition for Maine's
Online Genealogical Resources
AUGUSTA, MAINE -- Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announced on Wednesday that the Maine State Archives and the Information Resources of Maine (InforME) have received national recognition for the online delivery of genealogical resources. In the August, 2006 edition of Family Tree Magazine , the state's genealogy web site (www.maine.gov/portal/facts_history/genealogy.html) was ranked among the nation's very best.
“Maine State Government is a national leader in the effort to make online services available to the public. Many people in our state have long known that the State Archives is a rich source of genealogical information, and that our online services are helping to expand access to data for researchers. This recognition from Family Tree Magazine is a tribute to the efforts of numerous staff members at the Maine State Archives and within InforME,” Secretary Dunlap commented.
