Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap Announces Latest Efforts to Support Small Business

Alliance with Small Business Administration makes for
easy access to valuable information

Augusta — Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap today joined with Small Business Administration (SBA) District Director Maurice Dube to announce a formal alliance between their respective organizations. “This is a perfect match,” said Secretary Dunlap, adding “the Bureau of Corporations, Elections, and Commissions (CEC) has a wealth of valuable information to offer small businesses in Maine. For us to be allied with the SBA in efforts to strengthen existing small businesses and help entrepreneurs with their own start-ups is a great way to help strengthen Maine’s economy from the ground up.”

The Strategic Alliance Memorandum (SAM) between CEC and the SBA signed today calls for all manner of business-centric efforts, including: sharing of up-to-date materials on business related programs and information being offered by both entities, dissemination of literature related to existing programs to clients of each organization, and direct links from the SBA website to the Department of the Secretary of State and vice versa. “Much of the cooperation detailed in this strategic Alliance memorandum pre-dates this signing, and we are happy to make these cooperative efforts official”, Dunlap remarked. “By making assistance for businesses a top priority at CEC, a brighter future for Maine is assured. I thank District Director Dube for his efforts to make this alliance most beneficial to those it is intended to support: the entrepreneurs of Maine.”
