Maine State Data Center

 

The Maine State Data Center introduces a database web application.

The Maine State Data Center has provided this online tool to make it easier for you to access economic and demographic data for Maine, including commonly requested data about population, demographics, housing, retail sales, and employment. This site will be continually updated as new data are released. You can access the tool here.

 

Employment Opportunities with the 2010 Census.

The U.S. Census Bureau has begun recruiting temporary, part-time census takers for the 2010 Census. They will be hiring workers from communities around the state over the next several months to help conduct the 2010 Census. The Maine State Data Center is a Census Bureau program operated by the Maine State Planning Office. The goal of the program is to improve access to demographic, economic, and census data across the state. For more information on the State Data Center Program, visit http://www.census.gov/sdc/www. The State Planning Office works with a network of affiliates across Maine to help increase data accessibility. Affiliates include various types of organizations, such as public and academic libraries, state agencies, and regional planning groups. These provide access to frequently requested data about Maine, Census 2000 and the American Community Survey, and statistical profiles for places in Maine, as well as links to other resources. April 1, 2010 is Census Day! The U.S. Census Bureau's decennial count of everyone living in the United States determines representation in Congress, boundaries for local legislative districts, and affects the distribution of $300 billion of federal funds each year.
