Floodplain Management
Flood Information for Maine Engineers, Surveyors, & ArchitectsThe Maine Floodplain Management Program and FEMA consider engineers, surveyors and architects employed by private firms or by Federal, State, and local agencies actively involved in the development of the new and updated flood hazard information presented on National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) flood hazard maps and related products to be partners in the on going effort to improve the quality of floodplain mapping. The link below will take you to FEMA’s web based resources for professionals. Engineers, surveyors, and architect Resources Page eLOMA ProcessIn an on going effort to stream line processing LOMA’s for basic residential requests FEMA, in association with the National Service Provider (NSP), has designed a new interactive online determination tool for MT-1 requests called eLOMA. eLOMA is a web-based application within the Mapping Information Platform (MIP) that provides licensed land surveyors and professional engineers (Licensed Professionals) with a system to submit simple Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) requests to FEMA. By using eLOMA Licensed Professionals will be able to submit requests for existing single residential structures or properties, provided no fill has been placed to raise the elevations of the structure or property, on line. This tool is designed to make a determination based on the information submitted by the Licensed Professional and allow them to generate a determination from FEMA quickly.
