Waste Management & Recycling Program
School Participation
Maine Recycles Week (November 8th - 15th) is often thought of as taking place in the schools. Schools are indeed an important part.
Recycling should take place in the schools, and Maine Recycles Week gives us the opportunity to evaluate what we have in place and what we might want.
Today recycling is a large part of the study of sustainability. If recycling is in the curriculum that is great; however it is also wonderful to see how the pieces of enviornmental education can work together to reduce the carbon footprint and work against global warming and for the conservtion of our natural resources.
All together the school participation part of Maine Recycles Week is meant to suggest that no one gets left out. Join in and let us know at the State Planning Office what's going on and help us to thank you and share your success with others.
We are reminded that Maine Recycles Week is for the communities of the State of Maine. Schools in our cities and towns often are the center of the community. In many cases, teachers, students, and staff were on board from the very beginning of Maine Recycles Week.
The Maine Recycles Campaign web site provides information for promoting recycling year round. This information is a valuable resource for students, teachers, and citizens.
