Hiking Trails

Quoddy Head State Park has five trails, each providing access to a different feature of the park. Some sections of the trails cover rough ground. Distances given below are round trip, beginning and ending at the parking lot. Walk carefully please.

THOMPSON TRAIL An inland route from Bog Trail to Coastal Trail, this walk is 1.25 miles.

BOG TRAIL This trail branches off the Inland Trail near High Ledge and Leads to West Quoddy Head Bog. A raised boardwalk with informational panels provides access to the bog. The entire walk is 1.5 miles round trip.

ledges.jpg (84924 bytes)COASTAL TRAIL The park's longest trail, it provides spectacular ocean views and a close look at West Quoddy Head's cliffs. The main part of the trail ends at Carrying Place Cove. You can walk the short distance to South Lubec Road and return along it. Or you can retrace the Coastal Trail. Either way, the walk is approximately 4 miles round trip.

INLAND TRAIL A moderate walk through cool conifer woods filled with a variety of mosses and lichens. A hike to Green Point and back is approximately 2 miles using this trail.

LIGHTHOUSE TRAIL This short, easy path leads to West Quoddy Head Light and scenic overlook.
