The Maine State Police was established in 1925 in order to enforce the laws of Maine in the rural areas. We have a proud tradition of providing police services to the citizens of the State of Maine. Using our core values of INTEGRITY, FAIRNESS, COMPASSION, and EXCELLENCE as our guide; we strive to set the example for all to follow. Barbara Bush Children's Wing Visit - 2010

Every year Maine State Troopers visit the Barbara Bush Children's Wing at Maine Medical Center in Portland during the holidays. Many of the children are battling serious illness, injury or disease and must remain in the hospital through the holidays. The Troopers raise money by holding a number of events throughout the year and use the money to buy gifts for the brave children who must remain in the hospital through the holidays. This year dozens of Troopers, including Colonel Patrick Fleming, attended on the evening of December 23rd. Click below to see photos of this event.

The 60th Recruit Training Troop

60th RTT

In addition to the 18 week Basic Law Enforcement Training Program attended by all new officers in Maine, The Maine State Police conducts an 9 week "Post-School" known as the RTT (Recruit Training Troop). The RTT is an intensive course of study, physical conditioning, and mental preparation designed to prepare the recruits for the unique demands and challenges that the recruits will be faced with as Maine State Troopers. Learn about the recruits of the 60th Training Troop and follow their progress every week as they train to become "Troopers".

Troopers Run in Dempsey Challenge

Over 150 Maine Troopers, relatives, and friends ran as part of the Maine State Police Team in the inaugural Dempsey Challenge fund raising event held in Lewiston on October 4, 2009. The event was held in order to raise money for the new Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer, Hope and Healing. The "Dempsey Challenge" drew 3,500 runners and cyclist from around the country, including Patrick Dempsey himself, and raised over 1 million dollars. Team Maine State Police was proud to have participated, raising nearly $12,000. The team ran in honor of Tpr. Michael Pearson who is battling brain cancer.

The Blue Angels Visit Maine

The Blue Angels performed at the 2008 Brunswick naval air show held on September 5th, 6th, and 7th. Troopers are shown here on the tarmac with their cruisers and a Blue Angels F/A 18 Hornet.

Troopers Escort Wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery

Trooper Steve Shea and Corporal Ron Brooks, both Iraq War veterans, place wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery after escorting them from Maine. The 10,000 wreaths were from the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington. Shea said it was one of the highlights in his State Police career. The troopers made the trip on their own time and other funding for the State Police escort came from the Maine State Troopers Foundation and the Maine Turnpike Authority.

Barbara Bush Children's Hospital Visit 2008

Move Over Law

Trooper Lenny Bolton again helped organize this year's Christmas visit to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland at Maine Medical Center. Bolton has organized the Trooper's visit to the hospital for the past several years. The photo shows Troopers Joe Bureau and Christopher Farley from Troop B giving a present to a 2 year old being treated for leukemia. Over $30,000 was raised at this years Hoops for Hope charity game where the State Police team beat a team from Portland's TV stations. The event was spearheaded by Trooper Mike Cook's wife Shelly. All of the funding raised will be used to purchase items for the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital. Click here to see more photos.
