Natural gas suppliers must register with the Public Utilities Commission to contract with or attempt to contract with any retail natural gas consumer in Maine, pursuant to 35-A M.R.S.A. 4708. Any contract for retail natural gas service entered into after September 1999 by an entity that is not registered with the Commission is deemed void by state law.
While we maintain a list of registered suppliers, the fact that a company is registered with us does not obligate that company to provide service when asked or us to ensure that it is qualified to serve. The Suppliers are free to determine which customers they will serve. A registered supplier should maintain updated contact information and notify us for removal from the list when it is no longer part of its business plan to serve Maine customers.
