State Librarian, Linda Lord
Through our facility in Augusta and via Outreach Services Programs and consultative support for libraries throughout the state, we seek to provide all Maine people with effective access to the human record to meet informational, educational, and recreational needs.
Search our collection or the statewide catalog for millions of books and other information sources in Maine. Link electronically to local, national, and global sources in every subject area. Try full-text electronic resources containing thousands of journals, reports, encyclopedia articles, newspapers and other research materials.
Our Library Development Division staff helps support and develop local libraries. Their specialty is organizing, advancing and supporting statewide resource sharing at every level. The Maine Regional Library System is one of the earliest and most successful examples of multi-type, cooperative resource sharing and has had an enormous impact on the delivery of information in Maine. Its interlibrary loan system is a model of cost effective and efficient access to information for all citizens regardless of location.
We are dedicated to serving the information needs of all Maine citizens and to supporting all Maine libraries.
I welcome all feedback and suggestions concerning our resources, programs or services.
