Welcome to the Maine State Archives
Maine, known as "Vacationland" begins its short summer season in June. The term Vacationland, as Maine is so aptly named, started as a slogan on the Maine license plate in 1936. This slogan has grown in popularity to represent the State of Maine and all the natural treasures it has to offer.
